Tajan offers a rigorous Qur’an program that simplifies and breaks down Qur’anic reading into progressive reading levels. The program builds a strong foundation of correct pronunciation, Tajweed rules, and fluency. Levels are tailored to accommodate students ranging from beginners to advanced.
- Level 1 โ Beginners:
Recognize alphabet in various forms; focus on Fatha, Dummah, Kasrah, Tanween, Sukoon, Shaddah; memorize 10 Surahs - Level 2 โ Transitional:
Long/short vowels, forms of Hamza, Hamzat Al-Wasl, Lunar & Solar Laam, stopping rules; memorize 7 Surahs - Level 3 โ Intermediate:
Build reading fluency, learn & apply Tajweed rules, read Juz Amma; memorize 7 Surahs - Level 4 โ Reading:
Perfect fluency, solidify Tajweed, memorize Juz Amma - Level 5 โ Hifdh:
Review Surahs, memorize 2 Juz; boys and girls separated - Level 6 โ Advanced Hifdh:
Independent memorization of Qur’an; boys and girls separated
* Students are assessed at the beginning of the school year and placed according to their level, regardless of age.

Students at Tajan are placed in Islamic Studies classes based on their grade level. These classes are designed to engage students through:

At Tajan, we use Safar Publications for our Islamic Studies classes (ages 5โ13). This curriculum equips learners with essential knowledge and tools to foster a deep-rooted love for Islam. Students learn to fulfill religious duties through understanding the Qurโan and Sunnah, while developing into confident Muslims in a globalized world.
The curriculum promotes holistic, contextual, and student-centered learning, focusing on key Islamic values like:
- God-consciousness (Taqwa)
- Respect and tolerance
- Compassion and mercy for all life
It also helps students cultivate the skills to build strong, healthy relationships and contribute positively to society. Through this values-based approach, learners grow to realize their full potential and play active roles in their communities and beyond.
